Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage for the small classes and transportation available in the area. It is nice to have a train that goes straight from Kenosha to Chicago, which is close to the suburb where I live. I like the small classes because you can quickly meet and interact with your professors and peers. It’s very easy to communicate with each other.”

Faculty mentors

“Carthage faculty and staff impact me in many ways. From advisors to professors to coaches, they make me feel like I belong and am a part of the Carthage community. They always want the best for me and tell me about every opportunity on campus.”

Favorite class

“My favorite course at Carthage is Interprofessional Practice in Healthcare with Professor Laurie Jensen. Learning the different types of medical services you can provide to promote someone’s well-being or save a life is very fulfilling and can come in handy at any time.”

Toughest class

“The most challenging class for me at Carthage was Physics since I wasn’t familiar with it. It took some time to adapt to the different functions of the course, but I believed in myself and my brilliant professor to get me through the course.”

Campus involvement

“I am on the football team, which I am very grateful for because I have made lifelong friends and brothers. It makes me happy knowing that the team, whether it’s the coach or another teammate, always has my back and is willing to support me in any way. I also play on the esports team; my resident assistant invited me to join the team because he saw my potential. Now, we always go to the arena together and play a little when we are free.”

Career goal

“I hope to follow in my father’s footsteps in becoming a pharmacist, educating and helping people who are struggling in their health. By completing my courses and through serious dedication, I believe I can accomplish this.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is the sixth floor of The Tower. From there, I can see the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset and the volleyball court while I’m studying or making food in the kitchen. Seeing lovely scenery and other people having fun in the sand calms me.”

Best study tip

“I use the flashcard method all the time, which is the best method for me. But my friends use the Cornell method, which makes you note key points, organize them, and create a summary of what you learned. Also, having a calendar and agenda is helpful.”

Best tip for making friends

“The best way to make friends at Carthage is socializing — trying different clubs/sports and talking to people in your classes. Speaking is a very important function of human life that will take you and your communication skills a long way, so go ahead and talk to someone you don’t know. Maybe you have a lot in common.”
